Obama to speak at HRC dinner on Oct. 10

Obamahrcdin It looks like the National Equality March will be upstaged by the President's just-announced appearance at the HRC National Dinner the previous evening. The Washington Blade reports:

Obama's appearance wouldn't be the first time that a sitting president appeared at the national HRC dinner. Former President Bill Clinton addressed the gathering in 1997.

The HRC dinner is scheduled for Saturday at the Washington Convention Center in D.C. More than 3,000 guests are expected, according to an HRC statement.

Also scheduled to appear at the dinner are Judy and Dennis Shepard, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Lady Gaga, the cast of the new TV show Glee, and actor Gavin Creel of the revival of Hair.

I would love to see the assembled diners greet the President with a chant of "Stop-Loss, Stop-Loss, Stop-Loss," but do not expect that to happen. Alas, having invested my funds elsewhere, I will miss the event.
