GLAA is pleased to offer an online site for discussion of affairs that affect the quality of life of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities of the District of Columbia. Through this social networking media GLAA aspires to connect to new generations of LGBT advocates and straight allies and to strengthen our organization's abilities to communicate and broadcast to a broad and diverse population.

Medical marijuana bill scheduled for hearing

Our friend Wayne Turner writes:

The hearing on B 18-622, the Legalization of Marijuana for Medical Treatment Initiative Amendment Act 0f 2010, has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Chamber, John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW. A copy of the bill is available at:

Those wishing to testify should contact Jennifer Barry of the Committee on Health, via email at:

or by phone at 202-724-8170. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Feb.9 at 12:00 Noon. Witnesses are allowed 3 minutes, or 5 minutes for apanel. Also, witnesses should bring 15 copies of their testimony. Written comments may also be submitted, no later than 5:30 p.m., to bemade part of the public record.
