D.C. GOP recruits Allen West for its 2011 Lincoln Douglass Dinner

Allenwest The D.C. Republican Committee's pursuit of irrelevance (as if it needed to bother) continues, judging by this announcement:

2011 Lincoln Douglass Dinner

Join DC Republicans for our largest dinner of the year with special guest Congressman Allen West (R-FL). The annual Lincoln Douglass Day dinner if the largest dinner reception of DC Republicans in the year. This year, the dinner will take place at the Washington Hebrew Congregation located at 3935 Macomb Street NW. The reception will take place at 6:30pm and the dinner will take place at 7:30pm. [Update: The date is March 31.]

More information to follow.

Allen West?! This reminds me of the Illinois GOP recruiting Alan Keyes from Maryland to run against Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate in 2004. I mean, sure, the guy's an extremist rabble rouser, but hey, he's black! That'll convince D.C. voters for sure! (In an alternate universe, that is.) Keep up the fine work, Mr. Craney.
