Maryland Marriage could start January 1st
The Washington Post reports that an opinion by the Maryland attorney general's office may mean that gay people can begin marrying on January 1, 2013. Previously marriages were scheduled to begin January 4th due to the New Year's holiday closings and the required two-day waiting period. This opinion allows counties the option of processing licenses in advance that take effective New Year's day. However counties are not required to process permits early so you should check in advance where you live.
