In response to your post "Protests set for Jan. 27 over murdered Honduran activist", you wrote: "I am not sure why defending gay rights requires us to align ourselves with the interests of Manuel Zelaya and Hugo Chavez. The international gay rights movement has long been dominated by leftists who are bothered a lot more by right-wing depredations than left-wing ones. It is easy enough to pick and choose your despots when you live in comfort and freedom in the United States or Western Europe."

It is also well documented that Walter Tróchez was an avid supporter of Zelaya. He was murdered after attending a left wing rally. Also well documented on amnesty internationals website: there has been a large increase of human rights violations after the coup d'ètat and installment of a right-wing government. Logically, aligning with Zelaya, (left) appeared to save more lives and ensured LGBTI safety.

Our government, in comfort and freedom, was one of the very few governments in the world which was present at the inauguration or even acknowledged the election results. The mention of our country received boos from the audience. That should cause any political activist (right or left) in the USA to take notice and start to ask why? What's going on there? What must we do to change that?

Let's not get blind-sighted with left - right propaganda debates otherwise the point is missed: the purpose of the protests which occurred in Berlin, San Francisco, Washington DC and Los Angeles on January 27th was human rights.

Thanks for letting me post a response.

Best regards,
